Getting Started!

Not only have I just entered the world of blogging, (and have no idea what I am doing!) but have been inspired by my daughter Tracy. I want to help and support her very much, and in so doing, I will help and support myself too.

As Austen puts it, I am fluffy. I know darn good and well though that I am 30 - 40 pounds overweight. Nothing fluffy about it!

When I make an honest commitment/promise, I am good at not breaking that commitment. I can be pretty stubborn, I guess. It also helps that I have made these commitments to the Lord. The things I have truly committed to though I can count on one hand. They have to do with marriage vows, caffineated drinks, daily prayer, and scripture reading. I haven't personally decided yet where exercise and not eating Dove chocolate fits in. Or what my "rules" will be. Or just how badly I want to lose this weight.

Turning 60 this year is never far from my mind, and if for nothing else, I need to do it for my health. I already have high cholesterol. Like I said, this is for me, too. I like being around and in good enough health to be able to visit, do, and go.

I will think a lot about what I want to commit to. I realize that I didn't gain all this weight in one month and I certainly will not lose it all in a month either. Little by little, bit by bit, one day at a time, or as I have already said in my blog title, By the inch it's a cinch, by the yard it's hard.
